Happy Diwali 2011
Hi Friends,
Writing this post after a long gap. Today is Dhanteras, and just two days after, it is DIWALI. Diwali – the festival of lights, celebration of victory of good over evil, celebration of brotherhood, friendship, harmony, togetherness…
Time of the year to eat and indulge in lots of sweets. Time for diays, décor, rangoli, lanterns, gifts, greeting cards, shopping… and the list goes on.
This year is special as our one year old loves lights and diyas. Also this year I have enjoyed doing some crafty stuff and tried to reuse and recycle, so I have used old jars, used cups, plates etc. and turned into lovely diwali décor items.

Wishing you all a fun filled, happy and safe Diwali!!
Diwali Rangoli
…. we love making it!
Last week, the traffic to my blog was at an all time high. Many people came to the site looking for Diwali Rangoli. For those , who are not aware of this term Rangoli, here is the definition from wikipedia
Rangoli is one of the most popular art forms in India. It is a form of sandpainting decoration that uses finely ground white and coloured powders, and is commonly done outside homes in India.
The term rangoli is derived from the words rang (colour) and aavalli (‘coloured creepers’ or ‘row of colours’).
Here are the rangoli designs which we made this Diwali. My son also tried making one… his first rangoli

And this third one is done by my son… he was trying to make two fishes with weeds around and the sea waves.. that is what he told me. See if you can find the fishes. No prize for guessing it right

Happy Diwali
I wish you all a very very Happy Diwali and Prosperous New year. Diwali is also called as festival of lights. Festivals in India are bright and rich in tradition. Diwali means rangoli, wearing new dresses, lanterns, sweets, gifts, diyas, prayer, cards, party, good food, shopping, flowers and the list goes on. And Diwali also means family time, sharing, bonding and LOVE.
So spread peace and love and enjoy the festival. Treasure the moments… Enjoy and Have Fun!!

I love my garden
This is the best time of the year for the plants in my balcony garden. I wish I had a huge open space to fulfill my dream of gardening. But that is still a dream and I am working on to fulfill my dream. Most of the flowers in my garden bloom during this time of the season.
The best one is the night blooming cereus. I remember getting one leaf from a friend of mine when I was doing my post graduation. The leaf turned into a nice lovely plant and we have been generously giving the leaves to all our dear and near ones, who ask for it.After getting married, I also took a leaf along and now I have a big huge plant of this night blooming cereus. Every year we when it blooms, we click photos. I have photos of my son clicked every time this flower blooms in the garden.

Here are some more flowers from my small balcony garden.

Remembering my brother,Bob
These past few months, I have not posted any blog post as I was not in a mood to write anything.
Life is not the same anymore, after my brother Bobbo (Bob, as we lovingly called him) passed away in May 2008.
Bob, I miss you all the time, but today being Raksha Bandhan, I miss you more. Be happy wherever you are. You are not there with us physically, but your love will always remain with us and for us, you will always be living in our memories.
