Make Money Online

January 15, 2009. Make Money, Marketing, Webmaster Talk. No Comments.

This year i plan to double my online income. For me, the best source of income has been Google. I tried Chitika for a few days, and then stopped. ClickBank, just a few days, then stopped. Google Affiliates also, i am not too interested.

Kontera is just an extra income, say 5% of Google. In the year 2009, i plan to start a few more interesting websites all related to moms and the women community. One of them will be related to earning money online :)

Recently i came to know about a few ad networks and affiliate programs for the Indian websites. The first was one Komli. I got to know about this company when one day, i got an email from a Komli employee, asking about a campaign to be run on my websites kidsandbibs.in and kidsandbibs.com .  It was good to know that my sites are becoming popular. My main traffic source is US and India. I came to know that Komli  is an ad network for online publishers and advertisers.  Another company was Tyroo. I applied with KidsandBibs.in, but it was rejected. I don’t know the reason. Well it is their loss ;) .

TATA NEN Awards has more hiccups

October 21, 2008. Marketing, Webmaster Talk. 2 Comments.

In one of my earlier post, I had mentioned about my site KidsandBibs.com being nominated for TATA NEN Awards. And I was equally excited about the same, however after a few days only, the excitemnet died and there are more questions and queries.

On top of that, the emails from the NEN team really makes us wonder, if the awards are going to be fair or not.

Here is the email from the NEN Team which highlights how they just started without any planning, allowing people to register without verifying email addresses and letting them vote for the companies. Now also if they hire auditors, and engage them to look into the suspicious data, are they going to send emails to each and every registered user to make sure that the user really exists and the votes are valid.. ?? A big question mark :)

Thank you for your interest in TATA NEN Hottest Startups.

It’s come to our attention that some people – a small minority – are cheating to get votes.
Hottest Startups is designed to be a fair, healthy and effective platform to showcase startups in India. Therefore, unethical behaviour cannot be allowed.  And only by dealing with such behaviour can we preserve and build the value of what we are creating together.

KidsandBibs nominated for TATA NEN Hottest Startup

Vote for KidsandBibs

After submitting the form on 9th September, finally on 17th September (Rojit’s birthday), I got the email that KidsandBibs has been nominated and is now listed online on the TATA NEN Award website for voting. The voting process is simple, ie you register on their website and Vote for KidsandBibs OR you just SMS HOT 204 to 56767.

I have been reading a lot of criticism about these awards as well, as the voting process has already started long time back. So for some of the companies who got nominated earlier, they get an advantage and they do rank high. This is the main concern among most of the nominees or the companies, who have withdrawn their nominations. Anyway I feel, it’s OK.. as long as you have people to vote for you. Since the award allows only one vote per user/mobile number, it should not make much of a difference.

So guys, do vote for my cute venture and help me get some more traffic to my website KidsandBibs.com

TATA NEN AWARDS

VOTE FOR KIDSANDBIBS . You can also vote by simply sending an SMS from your mobile phone. HOT 204 to 56767.

Thanks for your votes.

Referrals – an easy way of getting work!

December 15, 2007. Marketing. No Comments.

Recently, we have been trying to check out other means of getting clients in a move to expand our business. So far most of our projects have come to us through word of mouth and through referrals from existing clients. Working and dealing with such clients who are referred by our existing clients is so easy because in that scenario, the person has already done his bit of work by checking out the satisfaction level, efficiency, performance and our delivery criteria. So in such cases, our work becomes so easy as we may be just one company bidding for that project and there is 99% chance of getting the project if the delivery timeframe and project budget matches with that of the asking client.

Whereas to market your services and get a new client, requires so much of hard work. You study the requirements, do your own research, prepare a long proposal only to keep hoping for the best. There are so many competitors all eyeing to get the project and sometimes the competition is so tough with many companies ready to do the work at a much lesser budget. In such a competition, you are trying to sell your services through means of your communication which may be a simple chat, email service and letting the other person know that you and your company is really able to perform the desired tasks in a very efficient manner. So I feel it all depends on how you present yourself to the potential client, whether you have understood the requirements in detail or not, have the required skillset or not and whether you are giving your services within your potential client’s budget or not.

So I truly believe that it is best to give good service to your clients, who in turn can get good work for you and you have to not really go through a whole sales cycle for getting a BIG FAT CLIENT ;)
