ICICI Bank – famous for cheating and fraud cases!
Well it seems, it is not just me.. but many others who have been cheated by ICICI Bank. With the bank trying to open up its branches in every nook and corner of the country, the management just forgot the basic management of the customers and taking care of them. I did a search on ICICI bank cheating cases and Oh My God.. there were many of them.
Recently I read in the newspapers how a person committed suicide after being harassed by recovery agents. I think, all the people who were cheated by ICICI should also hire some recovery agents and send to harass the bank people A good idea. The punch line..”Hum hain na..” is really cool… but “hum hai na for what?”…paise lootne ke liye??
With me the cheating case which happened is really very surprising. Well I have credit cards from all the major banks but I never had such experience with other banks. This ICICI card also I got after their people persuaded us to open the company account with them and then was giving CC to all the employees. Well, the bank being a big one, with no proper representative, we felt the service was missing the flavor we want so we have already shifted out corporate account with another bank.
The incident happened when I returned from my trip to Canada and the transaction also happened on a date when I was in Canada. I was shocked to see the statement saying 6K transaction on a card which was already blocked long time back in October 2006.I had lost the card and reported to them and got it blocked and after 15 days, I got a new card. This new card also I lost, along with my whole bunch of other cards and documents, when I lost my wallet in Delhi airport, while coming back to Pune. We had been to Delhi for my son’s Canada visa interview. And they had sent me a new card during my travel which I got just after my return.
I then called up the customer care and reported about it. I asked them how the bank can allow a transaction on a card which was blocked. I also got the dates verified when the card was blocked and she told me the exact date and time. And she was like.. your request number is so and so..you need to send a fax to the bank’s main branch in Mumbai. She also added..” Mam this case is surely going to be in your favor only as your card was already blocked”. I was also optimistic that it will get resolved and as told, I specified all the transaction details and sent a complaint via fax to Mumbai.
Later on some guys from the bank came to my place, asking me to sign some forms and it was told to me that it will get resolved soon and it will be in my favor only and for a few months every month to show the transaction they used to say 6K credit and 6K debit mentioning the case under review and then without any intimation to me, I see that in my august statement, they simply deducted 6K and when I called up the bank, they said, the case went to the bank’s favor. But that was really very surprising as it was negligence on the bank’s part, the card was already blocked and how could the bank allow transaction on a blocked card. They don’t have their process in place and instead they are charging the customers.
When I wrote to them, they replied that it is the customer’s duty to keep the card in a safe place and protect it from misuse. Of course I know that, I have to take care of my cards, but not the ones which were already lost, and were blocked. Well I don’t have the time and energy to go and register a case in the consumer forum, but I will surely file a case as soon as I get some time from my busy schedule. I have paid the entire balance amount and I am planning to close the card itself. I just don’t want to be associated with such a bank which is more famous for cheating and fraud cases. So think twice, before you plan to be associated with ICICI bank.

Search Engines -What are search engines? As per wikipedia,
A search engine is an information retrieval system designed to help find information stored on a computer system. Search engines help to minimize the time required to find information and the amount of information which must be consulted, akin to other techniques for managing information overload.
With so many search engines coming up in the market every day, there is a tough competition. But so far the 3 most popular search engines have been Google, Yahoo and MSN. I myself have never worried about my rankings in other engines apart from these three major search engines. I feel, if your site ranks high in these engines, then they will automatically rank high in other engines. Many people feel that along with these three main players, ask.com is also a popular engine. If you go to this site Googlerankings.com , it also shows your keyword results from these 4 search engines.
Out of curiosity, I tried to check their rankings on Compete.com and Alexa.com and in both the sites, Yahoo is the King, it is the number one website. Compete is so far, able to track only the US traffic, and very soon they will be recording international traffic as well. Check the rankings snapshots.
I feel the main popularity of Google among the website owners is also majorly due to the Advertising services it offers, in the form of Google Adwords and Google Adsense and along with that Google Pagerank(all are waiting for the next update!). You can boast of a high PR and can always demand good money from advertisers. There can be a big debate over the importance of Google Pagerank, but still the fact will remain that Google pagerank is still important.
As we have put Google as the homepage, my son also knows that if you want to go to any site just type it in the search box. So he tries to learn the spellings of all his favorite cartoon channels, so that he can go to that site and play the games. And for him the default site is Nick Junior when he is not able to ask the spelling of other sites. He knows that for Nick Junior, he has to simply type “Nick Jr” in the search window. To go to his website also, he will first type “urjit” on google.com and then from the results displayed, he will find his site and click on that.So to summarize, Google.com will remain the number 1 search engine.
Affiliate Programs – Do they really work?
These days with all major websites offering affiliate programs, it seems everyone is just into it. But for me, it has not yet worked. I have registered my self with a few of the affiliate programs… mostly on invitation from their team, but I really don’t see any conversion happening though the impressions are so high. Sometimes I wonder if the affiliate code is being tracked properly or not. And also, since the whole affiliation program is based on cookies,you never know when it can get cleared from your referral’s machine.
I have not seen much success with the affiliate programs so far and with one, it was good, but I got cheated and after making 97$, they just denied to pay me. So the best money making tool for me so far has been Google Adsense and I am happy that Google is good in tracking the clicks and the whole program is so user friendly and transparent. I have been getting my cheques every month. Initially I was not serious about this and though I got my account way back in 2005, I never really used it. I put the code on 2-3 pages on my site and that was it. But then after I joined some webmaster related forums and seeing how people have made good money out of Google Adsense, I implemented the code in all the pages on my site and gradually the income is increasing every month and I am more than happy. Also the Google Referrals program is working good. Recently I have started with Kontera as well, and I am seeing some income from there as well, but I am waiting for the day when the Kontera income can reach upto my Google Adsese income.Just the way we have some google adsense optimisation tips and techniques, I think I must check out the same for Kontera too. I will keep the Kontera updates posted.
And here is a tip for all the Google Adsense users. Try to use link units on every page. They are the most clicked sections, provided that the link units are placed well on your sites.
People bid adieu to Ganpati Bappa
After 10 days of celebrations, Tuesday was the day when people said goodbye to Lord Ganesha. Ganesh Chaturthi(Ganesh Festival) is a day on which Lord Ganesha, the son of Shiva and Parvati, is believed to bestow his presence on earth for all his devotees.
Ganesha, the elephant-headed son of Shiva and Parvati, is widely worshipped as the supreme god of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune.Ganesh festival is the biggest festival for Maharashtra and it is indeed a good experience to go and visit each pandal and see the beautiful decoration done.
During the Ganesha festival, a household worships a statue of Shri Ganesha. The worship lasts an odd number of days.Public celebrations of the festival are hugely popular, with local communities trying to put up the biggest idol and the biggest show to attract more and more visitors. On the last day of the celebration, large procession are organized and the Ganesha idols are immersed in the river or ocean. All join in this final procession shouting “Ganapathi Bappa Morya, Purchya Varshi Laukariya” (O father Ganesha, come again early next year).

India wins twenty twenty world cup!
A big day for Indian Cricket History. Well, I must say that after a long gap of many years, I finally saw the cricket matches played by India in the twenty twenty world cup. Even on the day when the first match between India and Pakistan was being played, we went for Dhamaal movie instead. The movie was good and we had a good laugh. On our way back, we got the news on Radio, how India won the match against Pakistan after hit-the-stumps tie breaker.
I used to watch all the cricket matches very sincerely till my college days especially India vs. Pakistan. But gradually after all those cricket betting and match fixing, the interest in the game was lost. Infact I love to watch soccer,tennis or hockey more than a cricket match. The cricket match seems to just go and on. But the twenty twenty format was a good change and it is more exciting and we started watching all the matches India played in the last two weeks. The match against England, where Yuvraj hit six sixes in an over was simply superb.
And today was the big day for everyone. I was not able to watch the first half, but I followed it on the net and I got to see the second half and the match was really exciting. At one point when Misabah took 3 sixes, we got worried and the game was looking in Pakistan’s favor. But finally India did it and we won the first Twenty Twenty World Cup and soon the after the win, the whole city and the country went into celebration mood.It was just like Diwali with all cricket fans dancing on the roads, firecrackers go off all over the country and youngsters race through the city on their bikes and cars, fluttering the indian flag. Everywhere you could hear people cheering, congratulating, singing and dancing and the whole country was in a party mood.
