Komli Ad Network Review
In one of my earlier posts, I had mentioned about trying out Komli and DGM, the indian ad networks. It has been been more than 3 weeks now, however I am not satisfied with the way Komli has been performing on my site.
I did research a lot and from most of the online review, I have read about Komli, they all say the same thing which is “Stay Away from Komli” . It is true that I did not dedicate my whole ad inventory to Komli, I was just checking out, but I would also like to mention that I did try putting their ads on the main pages, and the most popular pages. However the performance was very poor. Forget about clicks, but as they say, they pay based on CPM based impressions, but the CPM cost is also pathetic. Imagine getting 29 INR for 46K impressions.

Twitter Traffic
This post on Twitter is long overdue. I remember creating many twitter accounts, when it came into market intitally. I was assuming that, very soon, this will become an important part of your markting tools. So I created all the possible accounts w.r.t my domain names and the required keywords for them. However as it happens always, I just created the accounts.. posted a few tweets and then just stopped using it.
Off late, everyday I was getting many followers added for a very popular user account I had created on Twitter. I hardly added any updates for that account, but since the keyword is so good, people just started following me. I then planned to start tweeting again. Before I go more into the details of my tweeting activities, for the newbies, let me first give a brief description of Twitter.

Hooked onto Squidoo
I have been neglecting this blog for a while with so many blog posts still dancing in my mind 
Actually these days I am hooked onto this website Squidoo . I wonder, how I have missed noticing this wonderful platform for creating web pages instantly.. yes instantly, they say in just 60 seconds. So it takes just 60 seconds to publish a page on Squidoo and you can just write about anything, anything your like,love. Be it about your dog, your gardem, your neighbors, your community or just brag about how disciplined your kids are and how one can learn some tips from you, in bringing up disciplined kids. So the possibilities are vast.
The interesting thing, which makes everyone register on Squidoo is the fact that they let you earn money from your web pages. It is upto you, if you wish to donate the money to some charity fund. However they share the revenues which they earn from Google Ads and other ad networks they have. The percentage is very less but it is good money if your lens is really a hit and you have lots of traffic and everyone is dying to read your lens

Make Money Online
This year i plan to double my online income. For me, the best source of income has been Google. I tried Chitika for a few days, and then stopped. ClickBank, just a few days, then stopped. Google Affiliates also, i am not too interested.
Kontera is just an extra income, say 5% of Google. In the year 2009, i plan to start a few more interesting websites all related to moms and the women community. One of them will be related to earning money online
Recently i came to know about a few ad networks and affiliate programs for the Indian websites. The first was one Komli. I got to know about this company when one day, i got an email from a Komli employee, asking about a campaign to be run on my websites kidsandbibs.in and kidsandbibs.com . It was good to know that my sites are becoming popular. My main traffic source is US and India. I came to know that Komli is an ad network for online publishers and advertisers. Another company was Tyroo. I applied with KidsandBibs.in, but it was rejected. I don’t know the reason. Well it is their loss .
Kontera and Google
I did a post about my good earning in January month and how Google Adsense income was increasing for me with each passing month and I did also mention about the Kontera ads not working as good as I had expected. There was also one comment from a Kontera employee, working as Publisher Services Manager and as per his instructions I did write to Kontera about the optimization part and in reply to my email , the Support person wrote to me
“As for your account settings, I have adjusted them to allow increased ContentLink density; however, I need to impress upon you that Kontera’s ContentLinks and Google Adsense are not proportional streams of ad revenue. Kontera is meant to complement your ad revenue, not to supplement it. Of course, we will do everything in our power to generate the highest revenues possible for your site, but the revenue generated by ContentLinks is in no way meant to replace or rival your other ad sources.”
I was really happy to read their reply and how they have categorically mentioned that
- Kontera is to compliment the revenue and not to supplement.
- Kontera’s ContentLinks and Google Adsense are not proportional stremas of ad revenue.
- Kontera ContentLinks is in no way meant to replace or rival other ad revenues.
So for thsoe people who are thinking of replacing Google Adsense with Kontera ContentLinks, make sure that you are aware of these points.

January was a good month
January 2008 was the best month for me in terms of Google Adsense earnings. It was my highest so far and I also did break the record of highest earnings on a single day.I am seeing that my keywords are getting more paid compartively, the CPC has increased and also the CTR has increased.
It is amazing to note that how a slight change in your ad placement can do the trick. The same ad unit was getting clicked 5 times more, soon after it’s position was changed. I must start writing a book on Money Making using Google Adsense, but this book of mine will be different from all the other books I have come across. Well it’s just a thought and I don’t see the possibility of turning it into a reality atleast in the near future. At the moment, I don’t have time to implement my own findings in the other pages of the same website and also on other sites as I am so busy and tied up with projects and office work.
Oh yes, in January I finally… yes finally reached the 100USD benchmark in Kontera after 4 months. I had written to Kontera earlier how their ads are not helping much and that I am getting much more clicks in Google Adsense comparatively. They had written to me that they will optmize the keywords for my sites, but it never helped me. Well I like Google Adsense because, you yourself can optimize your keywords, your sites and try to get the desired ads you want and you can place it on any website you own, provided you know that you are following their Terms and Conditions. I will check out Kontera for another month or so and see if there is any difference. Else it will be more beneficial for me to sell my ad spots and links to other sponsors.
So the year 2008 was a good start for me. I hope it continues and by the end of this year, I do break some more records of mine. Yes I always compete with myself
PPC Advertising on Popular Keywords
PPC advertising is pay per click advertising. The advertisers pay for the clicks. You might have often noticed those sponsored results on the top bar and side bar on Google, Yahoo, MSN, Alexa etc. I have tried using Google Adwords 2-3 times but I run the campaign for just 10-15 days and then when I see no result, I just stop the campaign. I just don’t have patience to wait and watch. For me, the result should be quick. I often noticed that the times, when I run a campaign on Google Adwords, my Adsense earnings drops. It might be just co-incidence or maybe Google has a policy not to drive traffic from Adwords and then use it for Adsense as they have to protect themselves with so many new MFA sites coming up everyday, with no content but just to make money.
For PPC, you should exactly know what you are targeting, what are the right keywords to aim for. The goal of finding good keywords is to build a table of keywords that can bring targeted traffic to your Web site and keywords that are often searched for, but still not so competitive as to make a top ranking next to impossible.
There are many ways to find a good related keyword. I am listing the ones, I use very often and they are good tools all free of cost.

So when an advertiser is putting money on keywords, it is better to do some research and then aim for those keywords. Well it is interesting, but this baby site called babycenter(I love that website and it really is a good site for baby related stuff), must have also done some research and they have actually bided on my domain name as one of their targeted keywords both on Google as well as Alexa. So if you search for the term “kidsandbibs” or “kidsandbibs.com”, it shows the sponsored result from babycenter. So this shows that my site is indeed a popular one. Affiliate Programs - Do they really work?
These days with all major websites offering affiliate programs, it seems everyone is just into it. But for me, it has not yet worked. I have registered my self with a few of the affiliate programs… mostly on invitation from their team, but I really don’t see any conversion happening though the impressions are so high. Sometimes I wonder if the affiliate code is being tracked properly or not. And also, since the whole affiliation program is based on cookies,you never know when it can get cleared from your referral’s machine.
I have not seen much success with the affiliate programs so far and with one, it was good, but I got cheated and after making 97$, they just denied to pay me. So the best money making tool for me so far has been Google Adsense and I am happy that Google is good in tracking the clicks and the whole program is so user friendly and transparent. I have been getting my cheques every month. Initially I was not serious about this and though I got my account way back in 2005, I never really used it. I put the code on 2-3 pages on my site and that was it. But then after I joined some webmaster related forums and seeing how people have made good money out of Google Adsense, I implemented the code in all the pages on my site and gradually the income is increasing every month and I am more than happy. Also the Google Referrals program is working good. Recently I have started with Kontera as well, and I am seeing some income from there as well, but I am waiting for the day when the Kontera income can reach upto my Google Adsese income.Just the way we have some google adsense optimisation tips and techniques, I think I must check out the same for Kontera too. I will keep the Kontera updates posted.
And here is a tip for all the Google Adsense users. Try to use link units on every page. They are the most clicked sections, provided that the link units are placed well on your sites.
